When you start the program for the first time, it should automatically search and add all photos from My Documents. However, to add a different folder with pictures or even single items, you need go to to File > Get Photos. Using this option, you can add photos from a camera, from a scanner, or from a folder. Use what option suits you best.
Yes, Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition was compatible with Windows Vista, Windows XP and Windows 2000, but now it's discontinued and replaced by Photoshop.
This application does not have such a feature regarding duplicate scanning. The software allows you to manage and categorize your photos. You can use Duplicate Image Finder to finish the operation you need.
I store all my scanned technical drawings in Adobe Photoshop Catalog. I want to see the captions with the ID of the photos in the Show All view. Can you help?

These "captions" are stored as EXIF information. In order to see them you will need to check the Details option next to the menu that allows you to select how the files will be displayed. You can find in the left corner of the program:
You cannot download the application anymore because it has been discontinued by its developer and replaced with Revel. You can download the latest version of Revel from the official web page. Scroll down and press the Download Free button below the iPhone icon.
You can open your photos with almost every picture viewer that is released on the Internet. Picasa is a good example because it has a wide support of various image files. I recommend you Picasa because Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition is a discontinued product.

This application is not available for purchasing because Adobe discontinued the product and replaced it with Revel, an online service.
